ABOUT ME
Hey, I’m Jared.
I’m a designer, marketing lead, and reluctant perfectionist.
I build thoughtful systems that work together: brand positions, content strategy, visual design, and the connectors in between. I've worked in highly regulated finance, seafood, and education technology; so I've had to learn to design for audiences who are not necessarily easy to reach, or even care about. That challenge is kind of the point.
A lot of my work lies between narrative and strategy. I like to ask more “why?”s than “what color should this one be?” and I’m most frequently re-writing the headline and reassembling a slide deck.
A lot of hats I've worn: in-house creative, one-person designer for a multinational insurance firm, marketer for a seafood company, startup contributor, and my own writing's chief editor. I don't object to unglam work that comes with being a creative professional, I just wish I'd get things right and have things explained to me.
Apart from work, I’m either cooking, re-editing my blog entry for the fifth time, or watching something I will later regret suggesting to other people. I don’t take life too seriously, but I take my work seriously. But I’m learning long overdue that I don’t have to be “done” in order to feel good about where I’m at.
